Manufacturing Industry Opportunities:

Manufacturing Industry Opportunities:

  1. Job Shop - Machining basic Steels, Stainless Steels and Aluminums.

  2. High Production - High Efficiency - Plastic seal manufacturing.

  3. High Production manufacturing - DavenPort & Hydromat left CNC dept.  in the dust when it comes to high production.

  4. CNC Tooling - Application Engineer

  5. CNC Tooling - Product Manager

  6. Aerospace Job Shop - Precision & Multiple Processes.

This is what each opportunity was like:

1: JOB SHOP

  • A job shop is more difficult to enter but it is where you learn the most and everyday is a new day.

  •  You need versatility and think outside the box.

  • You average about 2-3 different jobs a day and time flies when you change set-up and create new programs.

  • This job taught me what I was capable of and it opened many doors.

#2: High Production - High Efficiency- Niche Manufacturing - (Product company)

  • This shop manufactures very similar parts all the time. They can run in the thousands.

  • They have specific tooling, programs, & processes in place to make it efficient.

  • They will have automation using robotics, conveyor belts, and custom machinery/robots.

  • This job taught me about Automation and how we can compete in manufacturing.

#3: Super High Precision & High Production - (Automotive)

  • Parts here go through long inspection processes. But once you get approved the parts can run for weeks even months.

  • I was in the CNC dept. But Hydromats and Davenports put CNC to shame by producing 500% more parts using 8 spindles.

  • This job taught me alot about quality control and what people look for.

#4 CNC Tooling - Application Engineer

  • You are paid to Learn everything about different industries, materials, processes, tooling and technology.

  • A bigger perspective of the industry by solving different problems.

  • Get to work with customers, salesmen, marketing, engineering, R&D, & Product Management.

  • My favorite part was creating studies and tools to make things easier. Then creating presentations to help educate my customers and peers.

#5: CNC Tooling - Product Manager

  • Here you get to conduct market research, write proposals for sales plans, marketing plans, and create KPO's for the products you launch.

  • You do data analysis to see if your product launch was successful and make your next plan based on the data provided.

  • You get to think about capacity and implement ideas like lean manufacturing.

#6: Aerospace Machining

  • Here I got to use the skills I learned about CNC tooling and speeds and feeds.

  • Machine Inconels, Stellite, Stainless Steel, Chrome Moly.

  • Multiple processes like stress relief,  welding, nitriding, &  malcomizing.

There are many opportunities out there.

My favorite is Product Management.
